I am not a “summer” kind of gal. For me, the only good things about the heat of the summer are the fact that I can consume popsicles and drink gallons of Agua Fresca, a day. This is one of my favorite refreshers. If I am having a party, I like to switch it up and use club soda instead of water. It makes the drink a lot more fun and bubbly, as well as versatile enough to mix in with adult beverages.
INGREDIENTS:
12 oz fresh strawberries
1 lemon (juiced)
1/2 cup sugar
10-12 fresh basil leaves
10 cups of water, or club soda
DIRECTIONS:
Wash and remove green tops from strawberries. Remove basil leaves from stems.
In a blender, combine the strawberries, basil leaves, lemon juice, and sugar. Mix on HIGH for 3-4 minutes, until the mixture is finely pureed.
Place a fine mesh sieve over your pitcher, and start pouring the strawberry and basil mixture into it.
Once you have removed the seeds, using this process, place about 2 cups of ice into the pitcher, and fill with water or club soda. Give the mixture a good stir and enjoy over ice!
